Corner Brook police make 2nd arrest under public health emergency orders

A 53-year-old woman was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly violating an order to quarantine.

The woman was found walking down the street in Curling, a neighbourhood on the outskirts of Corner Brook, on Newfoundland’s west coast. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said she was arrested without incident.

She is charged with failing to comply with a special measures order under the Public Health Protection and Promotion Act, as well as two breaches of conditions under a release order.

Police did not say if it was the same 53-year-old woman who was arrested on Tuesday in Corner Brook for the same offence. However, she was released from custody on Wednesday.

That woman had recently arrived in the province and, under the public health emergency, should have quarantined herself for 14 days upon her arrival.
